Living Heritage: A Traditional Romanian Cottage

This project features a traditional Romanian cottage through an approach rooted in continuity, care, and cultural responsibility. The interior reactivates traditional Romanian floral and geometric motifs, carefully reproduced and woven throughout the home - from wall compositions and ceramics to textiles and handcrafted details - creating a unified visual language across all spaces.

Restoration takes precedence over replacement. The refurbished wooden bathroom vanity stands as a tangible link to the home’s past, while natural materials such as wood, brick, stone, woven fibers, and ceramic surfaces establish a warm, tactile atmosphere that feels honest and enduring. The open living, dining, and sleeping areas are composed to support daily life with ease, reflecting the original spirit of the cottage as a shared, lived-in environment.

The design allows traditional living to evolve naturally - balancing heritage with contemporary comfort, and craftsmanship with restraint. The result is an interior shaped by respect for place, material authenticity, and long-term value, where cultural memory is thoughtfully lived.
